SOL Fitness Annual Parkinson's Family Night
SOL Fitness wants to congratulate our awesome client Bob Richter on his amazing progress and determination in regaining strength and fitness over a period of several months. He challenged himself every week to be the best, earning himself the honorable title "World's Best Client!"
Programs for Parkinson's & Veterans
The special program we created for 2019 is called "The Faces of Parkinson's!" During the first six months of the year we conducted extensive in person interviews with our Parkinson’s friends. The goal was to tell the tale of each person’s journey with Parkinson’s, reveal how it has impacted their life’s work or hobbies, and offer an account of what they have done differently because of the disease. We wanted to find out and share more about our Parkinson’s family here in the Midwest. The culmination of this work is the Faces of Parkinson’s book (see cover above) and a video that we shared at the event. A link to the video on YouTube will be available soon. Please contact us if you are interested in purchasing a copy of the book or the video. Proceeds go to the costs of hosting the 2020 Parkinson's Family Night event.

For four consecutive years during the month of September SOL Fitness has hosted the Annual Parkinson’s Family Night. On Monday, 9/9/19 we once again brought together our friends with Parkinson’s, their families, and caregivers for a special evening to connect. Over 110 people joined us to share their personal stories and learn how others cope with the disease. The evening was filled with entertainment, education, socializing, and renewed hope, while everyone enjoyed a great boxed dinner catered by our friends at GRs Sandwich Shoppe!
Highlight: In 2019 we applied for and received a $10K grant from the WI Parkinson’s Foundation to produce an extra special event along with a book and a video!
Also offering Chair Yoga - a modified yoga that is done seated and in standing positions. Chair yoga uses breath to aid in relaxation and stress reduction. Stretching and yoga poses help to build balance and flexibility. Chair yoga is perfect for seniors, yoga beginners, anyone that lacks balance and flexibility, anyone that can't or doesn't want to get on the floor. Also for anyone looking to relax and reduce stress.
